Twenty-five experts and representatives of the civil sector in the field of urban planning, urbanism, architecture, traffic, energy, and environmental protection, are part of the newly formed City Eco Council – Green Council of the City of Skopje. This Council aims to create policies in the field of ecology, traffic, urban planning, propose strategies, and give advice on the future development of Skopje. “We are starting a new practice in the work of the City of Skopje.
This Council aims to help us Skopje citizens with joint and focused activities to create better-living conditions in the city. It is time to lay the foundations for creating systemic solutions to Skopje’s environmental problems. “Through this Council, we will fight against the urban chaos in the city, specific policies and recommendations will be created, which with an action plan and specific time frames will enable monitoring and control of the implementation of plans in practice,” said the mayor of Skopje, Danila. Arsovska. The city eco council will aim to improve the protection of the environment in the city, to create policies for the implementation of activities for setting systemic solutions to reduce pollution, as well as setting new standards for environmental protection.
The Council will create ideas, proposals, and policies for issues and matters that originate from the members of the body, other organizations, and institutions, as well as from the citizens themselves. Thereby, the issues that will be treated as well as the offered solutions should be realistic and feasible, and they will be realized by the relevant Sectors in the City of Skopje.
