The Mayor of the City of Skopje, Danela Arsovska, today met with representatives of the civil associations “I love Vodno” and the “O2 Initiative”, where they discussed the implementation phase of the initiative for the draft law on the protection of the Mount Vodno. Mayor Arsovska pointed out that Vodno and Skopje are inextricably linked, and with the violent and illegal urbanization this green shield of the city is endangered and usurpation of this important part of Skopje should not be allowed.
“We committed ourselves to the protection of Vodno, by providing an additional degree of legally regulated protection in the interest of Skopje and the people of Skopje.”
“We started creating a draft solution for legal provision of protection of Vodno, which initiated the Law for protection of Vodno,” said Mayor Arsovska at today’s meeting.
Together with the civil society organizations, the City of Skopje started a procedure and in its program for 2022 allocated funds for the preparation of a Spatial Plan for Vodno. The City of Skopje is committed to a systemic solution for Vodno and with the initiation of this draft law, which will be submitted to the Parliament, the protection of Vodno will finally be legally regulated.
