The teams of the City of Skopje today finished cleaning and the illegal landfill at the quay of the river Vardar in the municipality of Gazi Baba, which covered an area of over 13,000 square meters, was completely cleaned. Over 4,000 cubic meters of municipal waste and construction debris were collected, which polluted the environment every day and endangered the health of the inhabitants of this municipality.
The City of Skopje is intensively working on cleaning landfills in the settlement of Lisice, Novo Selo in the municipality of Gjorce Petrov, as well as complete cleaning of an illegal landfill in the settlement of Brnjarci, municipality of Gazi Baba. Cleaning of all illegal landfills in Skopje is a priority, in order to prevent air, soil, and water pollution and protect the health of citizens. We encourage the citizens to get involved in this action of the City, by reporting illegal landfills, but above all, to be conscientious citizens who behave environmentally responsibly and take care of their city and the environment.
