The City of Skopje started cleaning the landfill near the railway bridge on the river Vardar in the municipality of Gazi Baba. Municipal landfills and construction debris are dumped on this landfill every day, which contributes to the pollution of the soil, groundwater, and air, but above all, it endangers the health of the inhabitants of this municipality. The city in cooperation with public companies will work intensively on the complete cleaning of this illegal landfill, which covers an area of over 13,000 square meters.
The landfill in the settlement of Lisiche on st. Gjorgji Krapchev on an area of about 18,000 square meters, cleaned and transported a large amount of municipal waste, garbage, and construction debris. The City of Skopje continues with intensive cleaning of the illegal landfills that are mapped on the territory of Skopje, and the teams of the public enterprises work in two shifts in order to faster and more efficient cleaning and remediation of the same.
Additionally, the City has introduced intensified inspections and indiscriminately large fines will be imposed on all those who do not comply with the law, thus polluting the environment and endangering the lives and health of citizens.
