The Mayor of the City of Skopje, Danela Arsovska, today signed the agreement for the start of the realization of the European project Re-Construct, for creating and piloting an ecosystem for the implementation of a circular model for dealing with construction waste.
– With the help of this pilot project for the first time a unit of local self-government will open the issue with the treatment of construction waste and demolition debris, finding ways for its innovative conversion and its reuse. The main goal is to increase and improve the capacities of the City of Skopje for transition to a circular economy and sustainable re-use of construction waste through identification of illegal landfills, their monitoring, and interventions for dealing with construction waste – said Arsovska at the signing.
Mayor Arsovska emphasized that the implementation of this project increases the readiness of the city administration and public enterprises to implement innovative solutions for construction debris management, which is practically the beginning of the process and readiness for transition to a circular economy while transferring knowledge and experience. and positive examples from successful EU regions in terms of capacity building.
