At today’s press conference, the Mayor of the City of Skopje, Danela Arsovska, the director of PE Streets and Roads Boris Nastov, and the director of PE Parks and Greenery Angele Sotirovski, announced the project for a complete reconstruction of the left side of the quay of the river Vardar, which will take place in several phases in order to establish a multifunctional modern public space with new greenery, pedestrian, bicycle paths and new urban equipment in the interest of all citizens.
With this project we plan to initially renovate this part of the quay of the river Vardar of over 3 km in length, a new bike path in an area of 2,500 m2 and a new pedestrian path in an area of 2,500 m2, forming a new green area which provides over 71,330 seedlings seasonal flowers and 1360 evergreen and deciduous seedlings, low vegetation, new hydrant network, urban equipment, waste bins, new lighting and ground floor arrangement of over 26,363 square meters, said Mayor Arsovska.
Arsovska pointed out that the realization of this investment will take place in three stages. The first refers to the move from the “Mother Teresa” bridge to the PDIF, the second to the park of the lakes in Aerodrom, and the third, to the “Todor Alexandrov” bridge in the Municipality of Aerodrom.
-This project is part of the announced summer construction offensive, which is taking place according to the planned intensity, unlike the improvisations and promises for realization in the past which unfortunately resulted in only partial cleaning only in some parts of the quay. The approach of the new team of the city leadership is different, we must have a serious analysis, stable and sustainable project, zealous preparation, secured funds, and a clear plan for fast and efficient implementation, says Arsovska.
The mayor also pointed out that the ultimate goal of these investments is the realization of the promised projects for a modern and urban Skopje, which provides better conditions for all citizens.
